dfcu BlueCare in partnership with Jubilee Insurance, is a dfcu Bank Medical Insurance product specifically designed to address and meet the ever-increasing health challenges of our customers at an affordable cost, with a wide range of enhanced cover limits & benefits.

3. Which plan tiers are available under dfcu BlueCare?

Customers can choose from four flexible insurance plan tiers depending on their needs and budget.

  • Bronze Plan – Essential protection.
  • Silver Plan – Enhanced everyday cover.
  • Gold Plan – Comprehensive protection.
  • Diamond Plan – Premium, high-limit coverage.

4. Can I add my dependents or family members to my plan of choice?

Yes. You can add your spouse, children or other dependents under a plan tier of your choice.

Accessing Healthcare Services

6. Which hospitals are enlisted for the service?

You can access treatment at all hospitals accredited under the Jubilee Health Insurance network provider across Uganda.

7. How can customers access dfcu BlueCare services while at these hospitals?

Customers must always carry their Jubilee Medical Insurance card whenever they wish to access treatment, from any of the listed Jubilee Health Insurance hospitals.

The Insurance cover must be confirmed in writing and premiums paid to Jubilee Health Insurance for the benefits to be effective.

8. Do I need to make an appointment before visiting a hospital?

For specialised visits or treatment, we advise customers to set an appointment with the doctor of their choice, prior to their visit.

For emergency admissions, the hospital will contact Jubilee Insurance within 48 hours of admission.

9. Is consultation covered?

Yes. Consultation fees are covered under your Inpatient or Outpatient benefit limits depending on the nature of the visit.

10. Do I need to pay while at the hospital or is it billed directly to the Insurer?

Treatment is settled directly with the hospital within the accredited network, if you present your valid Jubilee Medical Insurance card.


Joining & Waiting Periods

11. How soon do I start benefiting from my insurance plan, once I have joined?

Accident-related treatment is covered immediately while illness-related treatment has a 30-day general waiting period.

12. Are there waiting periods for certain treatments?

  • Pre-existing, chronic, congenital, psychiatric and HIV-related conditions: 6 months
  • Major surgeries: 12 months
  • Selected procedures (e.g. fibroids, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, haemorrhoidectomy etc.): 12 months
  • Cancer treatment: 24 months
  • Organ transplant: 24 months
  • Gynaecological & prostrate surgery: 24 months
  • MRI, CT scan: no waiting period, but pre-authorization from Jubilee Insurance
  • All scheduled admissions must be pre-authorized at least 48 hours before admission.

Premiums vary by plan selected and are payable annually.

14. What are the associated costs attached to each dfcu BlueCare plan?

15. How do I pay my premiums?

Claims & Benefits

16. How do I claim benefits such as funeral or disability support?

Claim forms are available through dfcu Bank branches, Jubilee Insurance offices and accredited service providers. A completed claim form and supporting documentation must be submitted for processing.

17. What happens in case of emergency admission?

The hospital will notify Jubilee Insurance within 48 hours of admission.


Eligibility & Coverage Area

18. What is the age limit for subscribing to Insurance?

Customers can join dfcu BlueCare from the age of 18 to 70 years.

19. Where does the cover apply?

Geographical coverage is mainly in Uganda. It only extends to East Africa in case of emergencies and on pre-authorization.


Exclusions

20. Are there any exclusions customers should be aware of?

  • Self-inflicted injuries or suicide attempts
  • Drug or alcohol abuse treatment
  • Cosmetic surgery (unless due to accident)
  • Participation in riots, war or hazardous sports
  • Fertility and infertility treatment
  • Alternative or herbal treatment
  • Criminal or illegal acts
  • Epidemics or pandemics (except COVID-19 within limits)

21. Does dfcu BlueCare include any wellness programs?

Yes. Customers can access the Maisha Fiti wellness app by Jubilee Health Insurance for fitness tracking, health education, wellness challenges, hospital geolocation, menstrual cycle tracking and reward points for healthy living.
